The heartwood is reddish brown becoming deep red upon exposure. Luster is medium to high, with a medium texture. The grain is typically interlocked.

Pacific Mahogany

Heartwood is bright yellowish red to dark brick red, streaked with darker lines. Colors to an attractive golden brown on exposure. Texture is moderately coarse with interlocked grain.

Brazilian Tiger Mahogany

Heartwood is pale brown, darkening on exposure to reddish brown with darker colored, almost black, streaks. The texture is fine and uniform and the grain usually irregular and interlocked.

Cumaru

Fresh heartwood is reddish or brown with light yellowish-brown or purplish streaks. Wood shades to a uniform light brown or yellowish brown. Luster is low to medium with a fine texture and interlocked grain.

African Walnut

Heartwood runs from light to dark red brown, usually with a dull purple-red cast; sapwood is lighter in color but not always sharply defined. The texture is moderately coarse with grain that ranges from straight to interlocked and is sometimes wavy.
